Team Abelixe has been struggling all season to reach top division, so Reto could try to defend the WC title in TT.
Down with 176 points before day 87 all hopes were running out.
Only Aalborg TT and silverthorne-mount Evans u23 where left to chase the massive point gap.
Oliviero did the best he could, giving the riders a massive pep-talk (some will say they could hear that not even Oliviero thought it was possible).
Nevertheless Reto took home 90 point with a 3th, still 86 point short.
Reto's 3th was expected but when Marquina rode in a 6th scoring 60 points the real sensation was within reach! Marquina beat TT-superstar Toli Pinto with 0,7 seconds and kept the dream of defending the TT title alive for at least a couple of hours!
Only 26 points to Top-Div!
When the start of silverthorne began, young gun Estevan Ruiz was told that only a win would be a acceptable result.
When reaching the last 10k, Ruiz launched what seemed to be an impossible attack. Holding back the strong favourites, Ruiz kamakize attack, turned out to be the perfect end of the season. Ruiz took the Win and 30 points, just reaching top-div with 4-points and, claiming a seat to the WC-TT for Reto!
Reto will now try to defend the Rainbow, the only sour taste is that he had to put a lot of strength in achieving the WC-spot. Leaving him with less than 80-DP in the title race!
